Of the important library of the convent of Santa Croce, now largely conserved in the Biblioteca Mediceo Laurenziana and the Biblioteca Nazionale of Florence, only about twenty liturgical books have remained in the original site. These are hymnal codices, including graduals and antiphonaries, many of them dating to the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries and embellished with splendid illuminations.
